Huge Work Health & Safety Changes In 2022

11/12/2021

Health & Safety laws are changing all the time.

And 2022 is no different.

The new Work Health & Safety Act changes are going to affect everyone…

Especially small businesses in Perth & Western Australia.

Do you have a Safety Management System which addresses all the vital new areas which you may have missed?

Are you covered or are you at risk?

Some of things which are changing are…

Increased Penalties

Max fines for an INDIVIDUAL at present $550,000 and 5 years prison. This will now change to $5 Million and 20 years prison.

Max fines for an COMPANY at present $2.7 Million. This will now be $10 Million.

Due Diligence of Directors and Senior Managers

If a company director does not meet their due diligence obligations they can be prosecuted – even if an accident has not happened.

Insurance

Insurance can be obtained to pay your legal fees but if you are prosecuted personally you have to pay the fine from your own pocket.

These changes are going to affect everyone, especially small to medium businesses.

If you want to get advice about the new Health and Safety Changes in 2022 and understand your responsibilities, feel free to get in touch with us today. We’d be happy to show you how an up to date safety management system can help you continue operating safely…
